C-SIEVE @ UAF
Calculus Support Identification Early Via Evidence
C-SIEVE is an academic intervention that targets students enrolling in introductory Calculus I (MATH F251X) at UAF. Using several years of locally collected, historical data, the program identifies students in need of extra prerequisite support early in the semester and provides built-in co-requisite instruction on these topics.
The goal of the program is to improve outcomes in Calculus I as measured by Precalculus content knowledge, improved pass rates in Calculus I, and increased success in Calculus II.
The side-car co-requisite support in Calculus I will begin in Fall 2021 and will be available to all UAF Calculus I students. In order to improve the program, data collection and analysis will be ongoing over the three years for which the project has been funded and will be reported here.
Notification of funding for this project occurred only recently. Thank you for your patience as we get this project and this webpage off the ground!
C-SIEVE is an NSF IUSE funded project at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
